Mintra AS founded / Oslo, Norway
Mintra (Multimedia INteractive TRAining) was founded in Oslo, Norway in 1997 by Research Engineer Ivar Viktil. Ivar recruited technology students, Svein Berg and Bjørn Rustberggard, to develop interactive safety training for the energy and maritime industries, with STATOIL (now Equinor) being their first client.
OCS Aquisition / Bergen, Norway
8th of February 2016, Mintra acquired OCS HR AS (OCS) based in Bergen, Norway. OCS (Onsoft Computer Systems) was founded by Odfjell Drilling in 1983 and their OCS product suite provided HR, crew scheduling and payroll software for the maritime and oil & gas industries. "We're excited about combining these two companies, and the strong value proposition that we will be able to offer our customers. Mintra and OCS have many logical touching points and already have a strong cooperation, which we will continue to build on in order to offer our customers the most cost-efficient HR and training solutions," said Mintra CEO Scott Kerr.
Atlas Knowledge Acquisition / Aberdeen, UK
9th of November 2018, Mintra acquires the Aberdeen-headquartered learning technology services firm Atlas Knowledge. Founded in 1995, Atlas Knowledge Ltd (formerly Atlas Interactive Ltd) delivered digital learning solutions to safety-critical industries, such as the award-winning OPITO MIST (Minimum Industry Safety Training) and International MIST (IMIST) eLearning course. Safebridge Acquisition / Limassol, Cyprus
18th of February 2021, Mintra acquires the German maritime digital learning and crew competence management specialist, Safebridge. Safebridge GmbH was founded in Hamburg, Germany in 2009 and with offices in Limassol Cyprus, its product suite included their SafeLearn - LMS with 15 ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems) eLearning courses, SafeMetrix - psychometric and technical assessments and myCert - system for digital certificates. Seably Acquisition / Gothenburg, Sweden
4th of July 2023, Mintra acquires the Swedish company Seably. Founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2017, Seably AB provided a community-driven digital learning marketplace for maritime professionals. Seably offered a wide range of flag state-approved STCW courses, legislation-type training, introduction courses, reflective learning how-to courses, and customer-demanded training. The acquisition highlighted Mintra's accelerated growth in the global maritime sector and the next step in the strategic goal of rapid market share increase. “This is a significant milestone for our business, one of many to follow, and a testament to the rapidly growing business which we are building,” noted Kevin Short, CEO of Mintra. Mintra’s OCS HR system has been helping to control and automate complex HR tasks in the maritime industry for over 30 years, allowing operations to run more smoothly, and enabling the HR department to serve more ships and employees. OCS HR allows one system administrator to manage up to 300 employees and perform operationally-critical tasks.
