Mintra releases Sexual Harassment Awareness course

The first global joint survey of its kind by the International Labour Organization (ILO), Lloyd’s Register Foundation (LRF) and Gallup has revealed that more than one in five people (almost 23 per cent) in employment have experienced violence and harassment at work. Across businesses globally, the need to educate the workforce has never been as paramount.

The study highlighted that women and minority groups are especially vulnerable to harassment at the workplace, posing a significant risk to the health, safety and performance of employees. The worrying statistics make it even more important for businesses to establish a culture which is safe and inclusive for all professionals.

Businesses must prioritise training and not only in technical areas but across, traditionally known as, soft topics such as harassment and bullying. To support Mintra’s customers we have developed a comprehensive course to raise awareness of sexual harassment in the workplace.

The course will:

  • Identify the types of behaviour that constitutes sexual harassment
  • Identify the duties of employers and employees in relation to sexual harassment
  • Recognise how to make a complaint
  • Identify best practice when carrying out investigations

The course is suitable for all personnel in the workplace and features content for those who may also be required to carry out investigations into complaints of sexual harassment.

By completing the course, learners will benefit from a greater awareness of what constitutes sexual harassment, the steps that can be taken to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace and how complaints are made and investigated. Employing companies can help reduce the likelihood of sexual harassment occurring within the workplace by ensuring personnel are familiar with unacceptable behaviours and how complaints are investigated.
