Mintra’s CTO Siren Berge will be speaking as part of a panel titled "Training vs Technology: Who’s winning the race?". The session connects training providers, crewing agencies, ship operators and equipment manufacturers to discuss the ever-growing battle of availability vs competency. With new technology and a thirst for retrofit ability on the rise, how can we ensure that crews have the competency and training required to keep pace with change.

"Closing the competence gap"

Thursday, 14 November 2024, at 15:20-15:40
SGT (Singapore Time, GMT+08:00)

Mintra's Director of Maritime Strategy and Business Development, Erle Kristin Wagle, will deliver a session along with Capt. Gurpreet Singh, Group General Manager and Global Head of Training and Development at BSM, titled "Closing the competence gap". The discussion will focus on how technology can help to attract and retain seafarers in increasing challenging seas (climate, war, insecurity, legislative requirements, the green shift, piracy, cyber-attacks, and alternative fuels). A maritime training landscape in change - huge competence gaps, increased risk of accidents and impact on the life of seafarers. The need for more digital learning will increase and it will become more accepted and more advanced. How BSM and Mintra are addressing these competence gaps, with the objective of reducing risk of accidents so that we all can return safely home to our friends and families.
