Who is the course for?
This Launches & Personnel Transfer Training Course is aimed at individuals required to board vessels, whether offshore or at the quayside.

You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role.

What standards are referenced in the course?
• Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention Chapter XV
• The International Code for Ships Carrying Industrial Personnel
• IMO Circular MSC.1/1331 Guidelines for construction, installation, maintenance and inspection of means of embarkation and disembarkation
• SOLAS Chapter II-1 / 3-9 Means of embarkation and disembarkation from ships
Is there an assessment?
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 70%.
Learning Objectives
• Identify the legislation and best practices surrounding personnel transfer operations
• Recognise the risks of boarding vessels alongside, at sea and by personnel transfer basket
• Analyse the hazards posed to personnel transfers from other operations, such as lifting operations
