Is there an assessment?
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 70%.
• Explain the importance of uniform regulations
• Give an overview of the key International Maritime Organisation (IMO) conventions and codes
• Describe the static and dynamic forces acting on a ship
• Describe the ship stresses in the ship structure
• Describe hogging and sagging due to bending moments
• Explain the importance of maintaining structural integrity when loading
• Explain how maintenance is an important part in maintaining structural integrity
• Describe what is meant by ship stability
• Describe the terms metacentric height, buoyancy and centre of gravity
• Explain the importance of being aware of the free surface effect
• Identify hazards that can threaten ship stability
• Identify the main different types of vessels
• Explain the importance of hull and main systems integrity
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.
