Description

This online course meets the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency in table A-III/4 STCW Code for the function Marine Engineering at the Support Level.

This syllabus covers the requirements of Chapter III of the STCW Convention and Section A-III/4 of the STCW Code. This functional element provides the detailed knowledge to support the training outcomes related to Marine Engineering at the Support Level.

The online course covers the background knowledge and practical work to support:

  • contributing to a safe engineering watch;
  • communicating with the officer of the watch
  • using internal communication systems;

The course will also satisfy 4 of the 6 months minimum sea-time requirements for certification as a Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch.

RFPEW certification candidate requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Sea-time of 6 months under the supervision of an officer or rating OR pre-sea training and 2 months sea time under the supervision of an officer or a rating

The mandatory assessments supplied in the course must be completed and signed off by an STCW licensed Chief or Second Engineer onboard the vessel using the approved Training Record Book. If not already provided in the course, this can be arranged with the Dominica Maritime Administration by contacting mariner@dominica-registry.com

Note: A $50 exam fee has been included in the course price.

Assessment

20 questions with a 70% pass mark.

The written exam(s) can be taken online through HALO° Exams, which you will be directed to at the end of your course.

The mandatory assessments supplied in the course must be completed and signed off by an STCW licensed Chief or Second Engineer onboard the vessel using the approved Training Record Book.
