Who is the course for?

Is there an assessment?
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.
• Recognise what PUWER is and to whom and where it applies
• Identify the types of equipment to which PUWER applies
• Identify how PUWER relates to other health and safety legislation
• Identify the risks involved in working with equipment
• Recognise what the ‘suitability of work equipment’ requirement is and identify the importance of risk assessment
• Identify the requirements for equipment maintenance and inspection
• Recognise the importance of training and instruction
• Recognise the importance of the hierarchy of control and identify the precautions that should be taken when working with machinery
• Identify the requirements for the stopping and starting of equipment
• Recognise the requirements for isolations
• Recognise the importance of marking equipment and displaying warning signs
• Identify the requirements for work involving mobile equipment
