Norwegian Constitution Day, on the 17th of May, will be celebrated a bit differently than normal this year due to COVID-19.
Mintra Groups’ Sales Manager, Jan Ove Kalhagen, provides an insight into his family’s 2020 festivity plans from his home in Bergen, Norway.
‘We will celebrate together with my kid’s grandmother and grandfather, but usually we would be with the whole family. We start the day by getting dressed up and then going over to the grandparents’ house for lunch at about noon. My sons like having their faces painted in the Norwegian flag, just like you do for national soccer matches.
‘Instead of a march this year, there is a planned smaller convoy of cars. This will pass our house at around 2 pm and includes fire department trucks, ambulances, police cars and other vehicles like that.
‘There will be no fairgrounds at the schools, so the celebration will be held mostly at home and in our yard. I have planned for some air gun shooting and archery, with prizes for the kids and the adults.
‘Gratulerer med dagen!’
