ShoreConnection teams up with Mintra to deliver critical helideck monitoring training

ShoreConnection is a leading provider of customised monitoring solutions for merchant vessels and offshore installations. In 2020, the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued new accreditation standards for helideck monitoring systems suppliers and mandated end-user certification, increasing the role of technology providers in supporting safe operations.

ShoreConnection’s Helideck Monitoring System provides motion and meteorological information to support safe and efficient helicopter operations on rigs and vessels. When the CAA expanded upon the requirements for helideck operation providers, it became imperative for the business to review and futureproof their existing training framework.

“From the implementation date of the new CAA requirements in May 2022, we began to provide in-person training to around 80 end-users per month. This was unsustainable and presented a great burden for our already stretched team,” says David English, Marketing Manager, ShoreConnection.

An experienced digital learning partner was required to develop a Helideck Certification Agency (HCA) accredited eLearning course. An automated solution would also ensure that certificates can be issued automatically to anyone involved with helideck operations, even during weekends or out of hours. The new digital learning solution had to provide significant efficiencies.
