A fire onboard any ship can be catastrophic. This course will provide you with an overview of the chemistry of fire, the importance of detecting leaks before a fire can start and the actions to take in an emergency should a fire occur.

Is there an assessment?
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 70%.
• Recognise the key hazards of liquefied gas
• Recall gas detection requirements
• Recognise what is meant by the term ‘flammable range’ and common types of liquefied gas fires
• Recall the basic chemistry of fire and the different methods that can be used to extinguish a fire
• Recognise appropriate fire response actions
• Identify emergency response and training requirements
• Recall the precautions that should be taken during product operations
• Recognise basic principles of fire management
