Who is the course for?
This course is for any person who interacts with, or is responsible for, the specification, design, operation and maintenance of assets that employ safety instrumented systems.

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.

• Explain why standards are used within the process industry
• Identify and explain safety instrumented system (SIS) terminology
• Define the safety integrity level (SIL)
• Give an overview of the ‘safety lifecycle’
• Explain the hazard and operability (HAZOP) study
• Explain the principles of, and the steps involved in, the Layer of Protection Analysis
• Explain the relationship between safety instrumented functions (SIFs) and their safety integrity levels
• Describe the safety requirement specification (SRS)
• Describe the safety instrumented function response time
