Is there an assessment?
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 70%.
• Recognise and explain fundamental terms in relation to ship stability
• Explain the law of flotation and how this impacts ship stability
• Describe what is meant by ‘stability’
• Explain the relationship between the ‘Centre of Buoyancy’ and ‘Centre of Gravity’
• Describe what is meant by longitudinal stability
• Give an overview of the purpose of a ship’s inclination test
• Give an overview of the information that should be included in a ship’s Stability Booklet
