Further Information - Social Wellbeing (WeCare) Training

Description

The Mission to Seafarers is a charity organisation that provides help and support to the 1.5 million crewmen and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat.

The WeCare initiative is designed to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for seafarers. All proceeds from WeCare are used by the charity to help more seafarers and their families with the issues they face.

Who is the course for?

This Social Wellbeing (WeCare) Training course is aimed at Seafarers looking to balance positive mental health with managing long-distance relationships and social media usage. Mission to Seafarers courses have been developed by qualified psychologists and behaviour specialists in order to provide safe and sound guidance to seafarers.

Is previous experience required?

You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course.

How will the course benefit me?

Long-distance relationships can be challenging. Communicating across time zones or accessing data can have a negative impact on our mental health. This course provides the knowledge and tools to manage long-distance relationships with confidence. If we feel happy in our relationships, we can feel confident in ourselves and pursue our goals.

How will the course benefit my company?

Crew safety is paramount, and research shows social media usage and maintaining long distance relationships impacts their mental and physical health. Both have the power to affect our mood and the way we manage our safety at work. The Social Wellbeing course provides a platform for crew to share their concerns and use methods to maintain wellness at sea. In turn, positive onboard culture creates a safe environment for the crew.

Is there an assessment?

No. Throughout the course, you will receive questions on how you maintain your mental health. On completion, your answers and WeCare resources will be emailed to you, along with your personalised WeCare Certificate.
