Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.

Learning Objectives

• Give an overview of the dexterity of the human hand and identify ways that your hands can be injured

• Give an overview of common injury and organisational definitions

• Identify the main causes of hand and body related injuries

• Identify the core safety questions that should always be asked before the start of any work task

• Identify key safety measures that should be taken before the start of any work task

• Identify safe working behaviours which should always be followed

• Explain your responsibilities to stop the job

• Identify your responsibilities for the prevention of hand and body injury

• Explain how to carry out effective pre-job hazard identification

• Identify the eight primary energy sources

• Identify the Hierarchy of Control and explain its importance in relation to preventing hand and body injuries

• Explain how to implement appropriate control measures to remove or reduce the potential risk of hand and body injuries

• Identify and explain the importance of wearing, correct PPE

• Give an overview of the appliances and tools which can be used to remove or reduce the potential risk of hand and body injuries
