Once you have completed each section of the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the section and have a pass mark of 80%.

Learning Objectives

Section 1: Parallel Gate Valves

• Identify the components of a parallel gate valve of the solid slab type
• Identify the components of a parallel gate valve of the split slab type
• Identify the components of a parallel gate valve of the split expanding type
• Identify the components of a parallel gate valve of the double expanding type
• Identify the difference between the raising spindle valve with the stationary spindle valve

Section 2: Wedge Gate Valves
• Identify the wedge gate valve with solid wedge
• Identify the wedge gate valve with flexible wedge

Section 3: Globe Valves
• Identify the globe valve
• Identify the differences between the wedge gate valve with the glove valve

Section 4: Gland Packing
• Identify the components of a packing seal
• Explain the sealing assembly

Section 5: Plug Valves
• Identify the components of a soft sealing plug valve
• Identify the components of a balanced plug valve
• Identify the components of a mechanically sealing plug valve

Section 6: Ball Valves
• Identify the components of a floating ball valve with non-floating seats
• Identify the components of a floating ball valve with floating seats
• Identify the components of a double piston ball valve with floating seats

Section 7: Butterfly Valves
