Who is the course for?
This Gantry Cranes Training course is aimed at individuals required to work with or near gantry cranes offshore.
Is previous experience required?
You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role.
How will the course benefit me?
If used incorrectly, gantry cranes can cause damage to loads, equipment and people. This course will give you a basic understanding of the rules for working with gantry cranes so that you can help to avoid incidents.
The knowledge gained in this course will help you to stay safe in your day-to-day activities and if you are required to operate a gantry crane. It will also indicate the actions you should take to shut down a gantry crane.
How will the course benefit my company?
By ensuring you are fully aware of the safety rules for working with gantry cranes, you can help to ensure that lifting operations are carried out safely and successfully. This will contribute to the reduction of incidents at your worksite.
What standards are referenced in the course?
This course is written to industry best practice and standard operating procedures. It complies with the UK Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998.
Is there an assessment?
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.

• Identify the hazards that can occur from incorrect use of gantry cranes
• Describe the rules that apply to personnel working with gantry cranes
• Explain the general rules that apply to working with gantry cranes
• Describe the general operating guide to using gantry cranes
• Describe the rules that apply when performing a lift
• Describe the rules that apply to shutting down gantry cranes
Assessment
Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.
